Robert Gould Shaw

Quincy Adams Shaw as a relative of Robert Gould Shaw, who gave his live to help African American soldiers prove their valor at Fort Wagner, S.C. in July of 1863. The Confederates buried him in a trench with his Black soldiers, intending the ultimate insult. His family refused to have him disinterred, considering him honored to lie with his faithful comrades. The Shaws were elites of conscience and great moral fiber, of which we need their like now more than ever.
