Join The Branch Museum as we explore the relationship between photography and architecture. Guest lecturer Sharayah Cochran will show how the practice of photographing historic sites in order to assess and track restoration efforts helped grow both the medium of photography and the practice of preservation.
From the photographs of the Historic Monuments Commission of France to the Historic American Buildings Survey, an overview of notable surveys reveals how photographers have documented buildings and sites while educating and delighting viewers with their photographs.

Ms. Cochran is a Professor in the Department of Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University.
