ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Fascinated by light and shadow, shape and texture, realist artist Patricia McMahon Rice paints portraits on commission in her Workhouse studio with two goals in mind: capture the subject accurately but aim for something special in the pose or lighting. Rice enjoys each person she paints, hoping to tell a bit of their story; capturing a moment in time. In addition to portraits she also enjoys painting still life and landscape. Having studied with notable painters Daniel Green and Robert Liberace, Rice continues to explore various Old Masters’ media including three color chalk, graphite, sepia wash and ink, silver point and recently, painting on metal. A member of the Portrait Society of America, she was awarded 3rd Place for her portrait: “The Ritter Family” in the 2009 Members Only Competition.
