Do you know a bright student who is struggling with reading, writing, spelling, or math?
The New Community School Summer Professional Institute presents:
Composition Instruction for the Struggling Writer
Individuals with dyslexia often find themselves struggling to express their knowledge and ideas in writing despite efforts in grammar instruction. In this hands-on workshop, teachers and tutors will learn how to help these struggling writers improve their skills and gain confidence. Based on simple-to-complex hierarchical structure, and beginning with basic parts of speech, students can learn patterns that will help them compose complete sentences, which can then be used to produce coherent, organized compositions. These strategies are effective not only for struggling writers, but for all students, regardless of skill level. Course fee includes an instructional handbook for the teacher and reproducible practice materials for use with students.
