Take in artist demos on the Quad, while enjoying afternoon and evening musical concerts. Piano and guitar acoustic duo, Thrive will take the stage at 2pm, followed by a 6pm performance from the New Dominion Choraliers (NDC) and a 7pm concert from Fairfax's own Rebel Run Dixieland Band!
Thrive is a local, upcoming duo that infuses the likes of R&B, Pop and Soul through acoustic guitar and piano. Calvin Register and Julie Sowers have been performing side by side for almost two years in areas such as Lorton, Stafford and DC. Known for their rich vocal harmonies and upbeat style, Thrive commonly plays public and private events if contacted personally.
The NDC is an award-winning chorus of dedicated amateur and professional musicians. They are widely recognized for their musically diverse performances, as well as for their commitment to serving the communities in which they sing. They are the chorus of choice in Prince William County and have a growing audience in the Washington, DC area and surrounding regions. The NDC provides a supportive environment for the musical growth and development of its members and serves as an example, to young performers, of a quality adult chorus.
The Rebel Run Dixieland Band, formerly known as the Cleveland School of Piano Tuning Dixieland Band, has had the reputation of bringing to its audiences the finest in Dixieland music. In 1983 they won the Grand Prize at the University of Virginia's Best of the Roaring 20's competition. Performances have included: major hotels such as the Capitol Hilton for the Daughters of the American Revolution, in Williamsburg for the Virginia Municipal League, conventions at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, the Fredericksburg Library Concert Series, the Redskins Barbecue at Dulles Airport that included the Governor of Virginia, Congressmen, the Washington Redskins and their guests, and many festivals including the City of Fairfax Fall Festival, charity events, private parties and retirement centers.
