Among the outfits discussed will be the suit James Monroe wore while negotiating the Louisiana Purchase and the gown that Elizabeth Monroe likely wore at their 1786 wedding. The conserved garments are now on display as part of the exhibit "Our Face to the World: The Clothing of James and Elizabeth Monroe" at the James Monroe Museum. The program will be held in Combs Hall, Room 139, on the University of Mary Washington campus. Call (540) 654.1043 or e-mail auphaus@umw.edu with questions.
