The spotlight is on Richmond local artist, Danny Trent. Five other new shows are also at Art Works. The exhibits continue through April 20, 2014.
Exhibits include:
Selected Paintings from the Rust Belt and Beyond by Danny Trent
Danny Trent studied art at VCU. He is now retired and spends most of his time painting his large canvases. He has created all new abstract paintings for this exhibit. Expect to be amazed by the beauty in rust. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery.
Gifts of Nature by Emma Lou Martin
Emma Lou Martin is a person who devotes herself to enriching the art community of Richmond, VA. She was the moving force in establishing the Uptown Gallery as its founding director in 1992. She is passionate about the arts, and her great joy is passing that on to others whether as a museum docent, workshop painting teacher, art consultant, and exhibitor, or creating “art adventures” for fellow artists. Her exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery, East.
Eyes of the Soul by Terry Lynn Smith
Terry is a figurative painter from Colonial Heights, Virginia. Fusing hyperrealism with beauty, youth, eccentric hairstyles, and fashion, she captures pure emotion, rendering timeless, soulful portraits. Each unique portrait is full of passion and vibrant colors, creating highly refined, personal, stylized works. Terry discovered her distinct style and fondness to paint after her long battle of surgeries followed by several painful illnesses. Expressing her mood and soul on canvas became her passion as she mastered the art of oil painting. The exhibit is in the Centre Gallery, West.
I And Walls Abound by Janneke Kotte and Brian Gearing
This installation in the Corner Gallery of Art Works includes a collection of Janneke Kotte's distinctive photographic works celebrating the individual in the context of the masses, as well as a variety of screen printed and digital works from Brian Gearing's extensive collection of promotional and commemorative concert posters, art prints and other assorted minutiae from years of art collecting and music fandom.
A Literal Representation of a Figurative World by Meredith Szucs
Meredith Szucs will exhibit her work in the Skylight Gallery.
