For past shows, Massie has offered works from travels to Alaska, Australia, Mexico and beyond. For this show, she has painted mainly scenes “from her own backyard,” still capturing the fleeting effects of light on objects, both natural and man-made at different times of the day and year. We will debut her latest large paintings of pools and houses as well as a series of large trees, such as the Maple Tree in Blinding Light, which is almost dematerialized by the effects of the sun.
Massie majored in studio art at Hollins College, and completed her Masters in Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition to her full time career as a painter, she and her brother, founded the award winning McKinnon and Harris, Inc. in Richmond to manufacture original designs of furniture for the landscape. This furniture has been featured in all major architecture magazines and is sold world-wide to discerning collectors.
Hours are 1 - 5 Thursday through Sunday and anytime by appointment.
