It’s Art Works’ 7th Anniversary and we’re celebrating with 6 galleries of new art shows and memory wine glasses artistically fashioned by the art center artists. These glasses will be on sale with proceeds going to the building fund for a much-needed new roof for the art center.
The opening reception is on October 22nd from 7pm – 10 pm with live music and refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. All the art exhibits continue through November 21, 2010.
Exhibits include:
JUSTICE AS A HUMAN CREATION by Alvaro Ibañez in the Jane Sandelin Gallery
Our anniversary show features the works of Alvaro Ibañez originally from Columbia where he created and left behind a lifetime of paintings before immigrating to the United States in 1981. Since then he has opened an art gallery in Kilmarnock, Virginia where he exhibits some of the 900 pieces of his collection of personal work, as well as other artists’ work. Each of his paintings is created from some experience in life. Inspired by his teacher, David Manzur, and artists Leonardo da Vinci, Dali, and Van Gogh, Ibañez expresses his love of life and beauty through a broad range of realism to surrealism, a few inches to many feet, and with themes running the gamut of human experience and going beyond into the realm of myth. His work tells of his dreams and the sources of his inspiration. Recurring imagery ranges from women to the powerful, mythical unicorn.
