Jessica Sims, painter and active art community leader in Richmond, Virginia will be the featured artist in April at Art Works’ 4th Friday exhibits. Four solo-shows also open ranging from photography, glasswork and paintings. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is also free for the reception. Exhibits include:
So the Story Goes by Jessica Sims "So The Story Goes" is a collection of abstract paintings that are celebratory remembrances of Jessica Sims’ youth. Her acrylic paintings on panel that reference pallets from childhood memories and sentimentalized items of her youth, re-imagined with a new visual vocabulary. The works are poured, painted and glossed, creating encrusted, candied surfaces. This selection of works includes paintings that reference family anecdotes, favorite albums, wrestling, food items and toys from youth. Jessica Sims has a BFA from VCU and a MFA from UNCG. She is the former president of artspace gallery and is a current member. The exhibit will be in the upstairs gallery at Art Works.
John Dale Best Recent Works John Dale Best’s photography has been accepted in many of Art Works monthly All Media exhibits by a variety of jurors. Despite his pre-adolescent age, he has already achieved an eye for beauty, photography and the abstract therein. His exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery East.
Floral Essence by Mark BestMark Best photographs a myriad of subject matter. In this exhibit his focus is on nature and specifically the essence of the floral. His exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery West.
Embracing the Dream by Curt & Debbie PalatCurt and Debbie, husband and wife, have embarked on a creative journey in the medium of glass. Their exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery.
Places I've Been by Jill WardJill Wards artwork will be exhibited in the Skylight Gallery.
APRIL 2016 ALL MEDIA ART SHOWThis exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes and is open to all artists and all mediums. The juror is Frederick Chiriboga. Call for Entries is on April 15 and 16, 2016 at Art Works.

We represent over 100 Virginia artists and present national and international artists in monthly shows. There are 75 studios and 5 galleries at ART WORKS. The public is invited to our monthly all-media, juried art shows, the 4th Friday of each month and are encouraged to participate in our programs, shows and events.
ART WORKS is involved in community programs, is a venue for many bridal receptions, fundraisers, parties and meetings. Our on-site staff lends our expertise to these events.
