Calling all runners in the Richmond region!
Tidewater Physical Therapy is pleased to announce it will host a monthly Runner’s Injury Clinic at the Glen Allen 3 Sports location at 2231 Old Brick Road the second Monday of each month through the end of the year – August 11, September 8, October 13, November 10 and December 8.
The clinics run from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Participants, who should wear running shoes and attire, will receive a complimentary evaluation of running injuries and a recommended action plan to help keep them running pain free.
Evaluations will be completed by Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Glen Allen location Clinical Director, Jason Bridges, PT, MSPT, and Lee Welch, PT, DPT.
As many as 70 percent of runners suffer from, or will feel, some level of overuse or impact injuries.
“Runners need to be proactive addressing injuries,” Bridges said. “That means at the first sign of discomfort. Being proactive helps prevent injuries from worsening unnecessarily.”
With Tidewater Physical Therapy since 2002, Bridges earned his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University. Since joining the Tidewater team, he has focused on manual therapy, treating shoulder injuries, and working on lower extremity injuries common with runners.
Welch discovered a passion for physical therapy in the wake of his own continual running injuries when we was referred to a physical therapist after attempting to treat his own torn hamstring. After a five-year career as a scientist in the pharmaceutical industry, he attended physical therapy school at East Carolina University. He joined Tidewater in 2013.
