The final concert of the Williamsburg Classics Season presents a colorful collection of music with its roots in the British Isles. A Robert Burns-inspired overture starts our journey: Tam o'Shanter invokes the highlands with a tartan tapestry of sounds. Benjamin Britten's Suite on English Folk Tunes paints an English picture, while Beethoven's Irish Songs sets the stage for St. Patrick's Day. One of his most famous "London" symphonies, Haydn's Symphony No. 101 received its nickname “The Clock" from the ticking rhythm of its second movement!
