Richmond (VA) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated To Donate $100,000 to the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia - event set for June 9, 2016
WHAT: The Richmond (VA) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated will donate $100,000 to the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia (BHM of VA) at the Chapter’s Year-End Celebration. The Chapter partners with Franklin Military Academy located in the East End of Richmond. The Chapter has 100% participation from its membership through their “Umbrella” project – “Focused Motivated Achievers” (FMA²). They support approximately 15 young ladies in middle school. The Richmond (VA) Chapter supports additional charities; such as The Fisher House, which offers services to Veterans; the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA); and has recently honored its $100,000 endowment to Virginia Union University. This year, Chapter members hosted the FMA² students and parents at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for the Alvin Ailey Dance performance, the Nutcracker at the Carpenter Center, exhibits at VMFA, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math (STEAM) tours on VCU’s medical campus and at Bon Secours, provided free dental screening, Health & Wellness activities and many more experiential opportunities for the students and parents. The BHM of VA will host the young ladies for future tours and events.
