Back by popular demand, the Staunton Performing Arts Center's nostalgic, family-friendly street fair, PAC 'n the Streets will return to downtown Staunton this fall with a larger footprint and even more entertainment and activities than last year.
More than a thousand people attended the festival in 2013, which was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the New Theatre, now The Dixie, and, together with the adjoining Arcadia building, the future home of the Staunton Performing Arts Center.
"We said we would pack the streets, and pack them we did," said Anne Armentrout, chair of the festival committee. "And this year it's going to be even bigger and better."
PAC 'n the Streets will cover two blocks this year, East Beverley Street between Market and Augusta, rather than just one. There will be more seating in front of the the outdoor stages, which, along with The White Box at 107 East Beverley, will be a showcase of the best talent the region has to offer.
There will be more local food vendors, more art and artisan booths, more strolling street performers, and more prizes in the Everyone's-A-Winner Drawing. There will also be a special area overseen by the Department of Parks and Recreation with activities and exhibits especially for the younger generation.
Also new this year will be a Tasting Garden, located in the Hardy Parking Lot (East Beverley and Market), where fair goers will be able to sample some of the region's most distinctive wines, craft beers, and ciders
PAC 'n the Streets will run from ten in the morning until five in the afternoon. "We expect seven hours of entertainment and excitement, laughter and smiles," notes event coordinator Karen Romig. "Many events promise fun for the whole family. Pac 'n the Streets absolutely delivers it!"
