Narissa has won numerous songwriting awards including first place in the Oak Valley Bluegrass Music Festival Songwriting Contest for her song “Celia,” a true story about a young slave girl. Narissa Bond has been featured on Public Radio WHRV-FM with Barry Graham and Bob FM with Hunter Hughes in Norfolk Virginia. Narissa has opened for national recording artists Ember Swift, David Wilcox, Lucy Kaplansky, Vance Gilbert, Richard Shindell, Stephen Bennett, Alix Dobkin and Ulali.
Narissa is passionate about her music and her involvement in the community. She gives her time and energy to make Virginia a better place for everyone. Some the issues she has volunteered her time and music to are Virginian’s Against Domestic Violence, Marriage Equality in regard to the LGBT community, Fair Housing for Hampton Roads, VA and HIV/Aids prevention and awareness.
