The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts presents: “My Favorite Things” by artist Charlotte Chan
Sponsored by Davenport & Company
Join us at the Suffolk Center for an exceptional exhibition by artist Charlotte Chan on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 5:30p.m.
Guests will have the opportunity to experience and purchase Charlotte Chan’s large and colorful works displayed in our BB&T and Norfolk Foundation Galleries, located on the 2nd floor of the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts.
Self-taught artist, Charlotte Chan has amplified her natural talent of over-scaled original floral and landscape watercolor paintings. She began experimenting in the arts 15 years ago, practicing painting and drawing with ink while exhibiting Chinese techniques. With inspiration from her daughter and her mentor, Nadine Allen, Charlotte became involved with watercolors and acrylics as she began painting “Big Shapes and Big Colors,” a technique she learned from the many workshops she attended. Currently, Charlotte resides in the Blacksburg area and is the Vice President of the Blacksburg Regional Art Association (BRAA). In 2016, the jury of Virginia Watercolor Society accepted her work, finding inspiration and techniques similar to Georgia O’Keeffe’s.
The opening reception will be held Thursday, October 22 at 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. This event is free and open to the public and will remain on view thru October 13 to December 22 between the hours of 9am and 4pm, Tuesday – Saturday.
