Students at Henrico High School Center for the Arts and Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School are rolling out their student shows at Art Works before graduation. The work is the result of four years of study and ranges from paintings, sculptures, and installations to fashion. Henrico High and Maggie L. Walker share the main gallery space by exhibiting on different dates. (see below)

HENRICO CENTER FOR THE ARTS SENIOR SHOW
Mary Scurlock guides her students through the many facets of art and the culmination of this work is the senior show at Art Works. The opening reception is May 23rd from 7-10 p.m. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery and runs through June 1st, 2014.
MAGGIE L. WALKER GOVENOR’S SCHOOL SENIOR ART EXHIBITION
Jeff Hall provides the inspiration and guidance for the visual art students at Maggie L. Walker where he supports a broad range of experiences in both two and
three dimensions and a wide variety of media. The students present their work at a reception on June 4th (7pm – 9 pm). The show continues through June 22nd. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery.
DREAMING WITH YOUR EYES WIDE OPEN: by Waverly Clark Fitch
Designer and painter, Waverly Clark Fitch’s medium is computer painting and mixed media assemblage. Each painting has a story, social statement and point of view. His exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery, West.
ADDENDUM by Jonathan Jackson
Jackson’s exhibit is a photo journey that explores multiple locations and perspectives, from the streets of Richmond, VA, to the underground culture of New York City as well as a look at recent conceptual photographs from the artist. The exhibit will be in the Skylight Gallery.
PERSEVERANCE by Glenda Creamer
Creamer’s work features movement and energy. The title of this exhibit comes from an experience in 2013. After breaking her wrist she did not give up painting – she just started painting smaller. Creamer has a B.F.A from V.C.U. in Painting and Printmaking, and has shown her work in Richmond, Virginia Beach and in North Carolina. She also loves to sing, play guitar, and write songs. “I feel that my art and music influence each other in a good way.” Her exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery, East.
MAY 2014 ALL MEDIA ART SHOW
This exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes and is open to all artists and all mediums. Call for Entries is on May 16th and 17th. The juror is Jeff Hall .
