A living wreath is just that–a wreath consisting of living plants. This workshop, run by horticulturist and floral designer Dee King, features the everlasting hens and chicks (sempervivum) and a variety of sedum groundcovers. The plants are ‘planted’ in a 9” sphagnum wreath form that has been soaked in water for a short time to make it pliable to insert the plants. Each guest will receive a kit that contains a wreath form, a tray to work from, a tool used to install the plants, hens and chicks and an assortment of sedum.
The workshop is a fun project for a group of friends to enjoy and create a happy memory in the process. A finished wreath can be hung on a fence or door, or used as a centerpiece on a table. It thrives best in the morning sun and afternoon shade. Maintenance instructions will be provided at the end of the workshop.
