Arts in the Village Gallery announces the October Featured Artists Exhibit Light into Dark, a show exploring light and line exclusively through shades of black and white. Featuring the ceramics of Carol Clay-Ward, and the photography of Mary Louise Ravese, join us at the Gallery to experience this unique show.
Carol Clay-Ward features her black and white “Naked Clay Raku” pottery, created using a process whereby a newly fired vessel is doused in water, causing the glaze to pop off — hence the term “Naked Clay Raku.” Raku, functional vessels, as well as a selection of sculptural clay pieces, are co-mingled for an inspiring presentation of ceramic arts.
“Working exclusively in black and white forces people to look at the world in a different way … to see with a ‘photographer’s eye’ and notice the fundamental design of things and the play of light and shadow,” says photographer Mary Louise Ravese. Nature and architecture are among the subjects featured, all professionally printed and framed by the artist.
Meet Carol, Mary Louise and other gallery artists and enjoy wine, light fare, and saxophone musician Mike Girdy at the open to the public reception on Saturday, October 22nd, from 4 to 7 pm.
