Quirk Gallery is excited to host the Lawn Chair Movie Series---a free event occurring on the fourth Saturday of each month from April through October. The first of these events will be held on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 7:00 pm in the parking lot adjacent to Quirk at 311 W. Broad St.
The April event will feature the 1975 documentary (and cult favorite), "Grey Gardens." This film from the Maysles Brothers centers around the mother and daughter duo of "Big Edie" and "Little Edie"---former socialites and relatives of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis who, at the time of filming, lived a reclusive and co-dependent existence in their dilapidated mansion in wealthy East Hampton, NY.
Those in attendance are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. There will be live entertainment and a "Grey Gardens"-themed costume contest prior to the movie which is scheduled to start at sundown. Concessions will be available for purchase. In case of inclement weather the event will be held indoors at Quirk Gallery
The Lawn Chair Movie Series is produced in partnership with 1708 Gallery, Backstage, Black Iris, Lift Coffee, Steady Sounds, and Verdalina.
