The Lawn Chair Movie Series continues this month with "Grease," the 1978 film version of the musical starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John and featuring memorable songs like "Summer Lovin'," "Hopelessly Devoted To You," "Grease Lightning," and "You're The One That I Want."
This month's event will be the first to feature the newly completed mural project, sponsored by Hands On Greater Richmond and featuring the collaborative efforts of Richmond artists Chris Milk, Matt Lively, Ed Trask, Hamilton Glass, Bombproof, Michael Broth, and Hampton Broyer.
Hosted by Quirk Gallery and produced in partnership with 1708 Gallery, Steady Sounds, Black Iris, Verdalina, Backstage and Lift Coffee - this free outdoor event brings you live entertainment, beverages, snacks, and prizes for our movie-themed costume contest.
Doors will open at 7:00 pm and the movie will start around sundown. Attendees of the event are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets. Snacks, soft drinks, beer, and wine will be available for purchase and the winner of the costume contest will be selected just prior to the start of the film. This event will be held in the outdoor event space adjacent to Quirk Gallery at 311 West Broad Street. In the case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown indoors at Quirk.
This series will conclude next month with "Clue" on October 25.
