This intriguing program opens with Mozart's overture to his comic opera The Abduction from the Seraglio, brilliantly capturing the wit, charm and action of the story. Next up: as a teenager, Mozart wrote some his greatest works, including the popular fifth violin concerto, which is known by the nickname "the Turkish" for the eastern color of its final movement. The evening concludes with Brahms' idyllic Serenade No. 1, complete with French horn calls.
