Three expert panelists will lead a discussion, “Take care of your heart,” beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 in Fauquier Hospital’s Sycamore Room.
Kelsey Cooper, nurse practitioner at Piedmont Internal Medicine; Beth Potter, Fauquier Health Wellness Center nutritionist, and Al Maxey, fitness specialist at the Wellness Center, will present their thoughts on heart health and answer questions from the audience.
Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels is a great way to keep your heart strong and lower your chances of heart disease or stroke. Attendees will learn the difference between good and bad cholesterol and the role in the body of each. Kelsey Cooper will discuss the basics of cholesterol; Beth Potter will review which foods lower your cholesterol naturally, and Al Maxey will offer fitness strategies to maintain a strong heart and body.
After the lecture, several free, heart-healthy screenings will be offered -- a free, non-fasting cholesterol screening, as well as blood pressure and BMI screenings. Registration is required to secure your spot for the lecture and screenings. Call 540-316-3588 or go to fauquierhealth.org and look for classes and events.
