0n November 20th, guest conductor Eckart Preu will lead the orchestra in a performance of music from the first half of the 19th century and the second half of the 20th. Maestro Zimmerman described the musical selections as "sparkling, clean, and clear." The mischief and humor of Rossini's La Cenerentola Overture contrasts with the drama and poetic introspection of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 of the early Romantic Period. Both are counterbalanced by the unpredictabilty and rhythmic intensity of John Adams' Violin Concerto which reaches almost hypnotic proportions when played by guest artist, Timothy Fain on violin.
Concert Program:
ROSSINI: Overture to La Cenerentola
ADAMS: Violin Concerto - Timothy Fain, violin
MENDELSSOHN: Symphony No. 3
