To highlight and celebrate the importance of literacy in early childhood education, the Children’s Museum of Richmond will present special reading-based activities and appearances by beloved children’s book characters. Judith Byron Schachner’s book Skippyjon Jones won the first annual E.B. White Read Aloud Award in 2004. In 2007 it was named as a “Teachers’ Top 100 Books for Children” by the National Edcuation Association. Skippyjon is a Siamese kitten who believes himself to be a Chihuahua. He now has a series of stories based on the adventures of his canine alter-ego, El Skippito, and his imaginary Chihuahua friends. Skippyjon Jones will be visiting CMoR! While you’re there, have your child participate in our Self Portrait station where they can express how they see themselves!
