Norfolk, VA Art Center Welcomes Nationally Recognized Author and Creativity Expert October 20, 2010
Want to create change in your life? Get creatively fit! Whitney Ferré, nationally recognized author of two books on creativity (The Artist Within, A Guide to Becoming Creatively Fit and 33 Things to Know About Raising Creative Kids), will present her workshop, “Becoming Creatively Fit,” in a special two-part event on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the d’ART Center in Norfolk, VA.
Part I: 12 noon – 1:00 p.m.: Lunch Hour Creativity Workout
Part II: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.: The Art of Living
Ferre’s passion is to empower people to create change in their lives by developing the right hemisphere of their brain through simple, creative activities. “We live in such an overwhelming, complicated, linear-thinking world, our left brain is constantly getting all the attention,” says Ferre’. “So I’ve created a way for people to quickly and easily access the right brain through creativity workouts.”
The beauty of Ferre’s program is that you do not need to be an artist to participate. Creativity workouts can help anyone who has a problem to solve, a dream to fulfill or an idea to develop. “Your mind responds, just like your muscles,” explains Ferre’. “Every time you give your brain a right brain task, it becomes stronger and better. “
One local resident claims Ferre’s program helped her make changes at home and in her career. "Whitney's creativity workouts are surprisingly simple," says Virginia Beach resident Theresa Ceniccola. "I love the way Whitney teaches me to get lost in the process and not become attached to the outcome. I am a huge advocate of anything that helps us tap into our creativity!"
In the workshop at d’ART Center on October 20, Whitney will teach participants how to access creative/right brain thinking through her “creativity workouts” and a new awareness of right brain skills to innovate, brainstorm, and develop creative teams in business, whether the business is in an office building or an art studio. In the second part of the workshop (for participants who can stay past the lunch hour), she will lead you through different mixed media exercises that will provide you with a new approach to the art of living and your role as the artist.
