WHAT: A 2-day free, Fine Arts Festival offering juried arts and crafts, music, local foods and free transport in a charming historical country setting.
WHO: This revival of an older area event began with grants by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, matched by Middlesex County, the Art on the Half Shell Foundation, the Urbanna Business Assn. and private donations, and supported by a crew of artists, the Town of Urbanna and Gloucester Arts on Main.
WHERE: Middlesex County near the Chesapeake. Under majestic oak trees, artists’ tents will line the “Hewick Plantation” shaded gravel drive and broad lawns. Music and local culinary arts will be available throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Expansive free parking adjacent.
AND: A “Celebration of the Arts” with free music and light fare Saturday evening at the nearby 17th century mansion, “Lansdown.” Restaurants and retail shops will be open. Parking is free, with complimentary trolleys for visitors between the village and the nearby festival site.
