This legendary folk singer-songwriter returns to the Hylton Center to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his iconic song, “Alice’s Restaurant.” When a young Arlo, son of renowned folk legend Woody Guthrie, was arrested for littering on Thanksgiving Day back in 1965, he couldn’t know that it would launch his career, turning him into a counterculture hero. It ultimately helped spark an entire generation to embrace social activism. Guthrie charmed audiences with his witty stories, amusing anecdotes, and folk favorites at his last appearance here, and this concert promises even more with a brand new program. “An hour and a half in the presence of Guthrie is like receiving the most enjoyable and authoritative master class on 20th-century American folk music one could possibly have.” (The Independent, London)
