Les Yeux du Monde is excited to present as the final exhibition of 2014, Annie Harris Massie, Cultivated Wild. The show will run from 21 November through 28 December 2014 with an Opening Reception on Friday, 21 November from 5:30 – 7:30. Lynchburg Virginia artist Massie is well known and widely appreciated for her exquisite paintings which seem to hover and shift between abstraction and representation. For her latest paintings, she has added encaustic to her favored medium of oil and turns her attention to scenes from the fields, gardens and ponds of her central Virginia landscape. Although most of her recent paintings are large in scale, she strives to retain the sketchy nature of the “wild” in the interplay of color and form. Always interested in what Massie calls the “transformative nature of light” and “how the interplay of light and shadow reveals and obscures form,” these paintings also gravitate between the ordered and the natural.
The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday 1 -5 and by appointment. It is located at 841 Wolf Trap Rd in Charlottesville, VA. For more information, check our website, www.LesYeuxduMonde.com or call 434-973-5566.
