This renowned chamber ensemble from London performs an exquisite program of string and wind chamber works for one of the preeminent classical music events of our season. Schubert’s rarely performed Octet in F major highlights the evening’s program and this ensemble’s performance of it is already capturing the attention of the press. “…the St. Martin Ensemble delivered a performance as remarkable as the [rarely heard] work itself” came the glowing review after a recent performance (Cleveland.com). Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble is drawn from the principal players of the distinguished Academy orchestra, which has an international reputation for its distinctive, polished and refined sound. With more than 30 albums, they are the most recorded chamber ensemble, and their impressive repertoire ranges from Baroque to Bartók. The group tours extensively with regular performances in France, Germany, and Spain, as well as North and South America. Be sure to experience their return appearance at the Center.
