Students at Henrico High School Center for the Arts and Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School are rolling out their student shows at Art Works before graduation. The work is the result of four years of study and ranges from paintings, sculptures, installations to fashion. Henrico High and Maggie L. Walker share the main gallery space by exhibiting on different dates. Join us on May 24th 7-10 p.m. for the FOURTH FRIDAY art show and reception featuring Henrico High and again on June 7th for the Maggie Walker School art show and reception. The events are free and open to the public.
2013 marks the 10th anniversary of ART WORKS and we are celebrating each month with a special door prize at the opening reception. The door prize for May 24th reception is a free off-site Fun Day for some lucky office or organization. Spend 2 hours at Art Works with your coworkers working on a creative activity.

HENRICO CENTER FOR THE ARTS SENIOR SHOW
Mary Scurlock guides her students through the many facets of art and the culmination of this work is the senior show at Art Works. The opening reception is May 24 from 7-10 p.m.. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery and runs through June 4, 2013.
MAGGIE L. WALKER GOVENOR’S SCHOOL SENIOR ART EXHIBITION
Jeff Hall provides the inspiration and guidance for the visual art students at Maggie L. Walker where he supports a broad range of experiences in both two and three dimensions and a wide variety of media. The students present their work at a reception on June 7th (7 pm – 9 pm). The show continues through June 23rd. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery.
NOT YOUR AVERAGE PAINTINGS: DIGITAL ART by Waverly Clark Fitch
Designer and painter, Waverly Clark Fitch’s medium is computer painting and mixed media assemblage. Each painting has a story, social statement and point of view. His exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery, West.
COGNITION by Erica Morris and Jessie Della
This exhibit will be in the Skylight Gallery.
RVA VISIONS by Perry Matthews
Her exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery, East.
THE ROAMING SPIRIT by Dorothy Ellis
As a Virginia teacher, Dorothy Ellis has helped thousands of people solve numerous creative problems. Retirement has afforded her the time to pursue her own artistic approaches. She is active in the Richmond art community, is a resident artist at ART WORKS as well as PLANT ZERO. Dorothy has concentrated in print making, putting color into etchings by using multi-colored plates and various inking techniques. She also creates monoprints and abstract paintings. MAY 2013 ALL MEDIA ART SHOW
This exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes and is open to all artists and all mediums. Call for Entries is on May 17th and 18th. Awards will be present on opening night by the juror.
