The 2nd Saturday Art Walk at the Workhouse showcases the diverse work of more than 150 visual artists in a unique historic venue, creating an atmosphere that encourages visitors to immerse themselves in the richness of this creative community. Guests can tour seven unique studio buildings, mix and mingle with artists, buy original works of art, experience ever-changing exhibitions and meet featured artists, all while enjoying light refreshment and music. The social atmosphere of the monthly art walk makes it the perfect destination for a date night or girl's night out, and for art collectors and art appreciation groups alike. These monthly events are also perfect for family art outings.
In the Center's gallery building, Gallery W-16, art walk guests can enjoy opening receptions for monthly exhibitions featuring Workhouse Associate and Guild artists and regional artists and art groups. Visitors to Gallery W-16 can also enjoy the work of our MAD Artists! In a truly unique merger of art and design, interior design professionals from the Association of Interior Design Professionals (AIDP) work closely with Workhouse studio artists to create monthly vignettes in the gallery. These vignettes feature the original work of the artist and the artistic flair of the interior designer. The AIDP design professionals are on hand during each 2nd Saturday Art Walk to talk about their vignettes and about incorporating art into any interior, and to offer free interior design consultations for guests.
Visitors can also join Studio Fiber Arts members and create handmade items for charity donations. Studio Fiber Arts will supply a list of great charities, patterns and ideas to knit, crochet or quilt. Participants should bring their own materials and tools. Enjoy the fun of working together for great causes and stop by Studio 605 from 7-8pm during each 2nd Saturday Art Walk.
