A panel of distinguished Civil War scholars will present their nominees for "Person of the Year: 1864" at a symposium hosted by the Museum of the Confederacy, the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar, and Library of Virginia. Who will join past selections Abraham Lincoln (1861), Robert E. Lee (1862), and Ulysses S. Grant (1863) as 1864's Person of the Year? The audience will have the final say by casting ballots.
Gary Gallagher, Harold Holzer, John Marszalek, Joe Mobley and Craig Symonds will reveal their nominations at the symposium, which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Library of Virginia, 800 E. Broad St., Richmond. Free parking is available in the library’s underground garage or on surrounding streets. (Parking meters are superfluous on weekends.)
$40 for members; $60 for non-members. Box lunch included. Reservations and prepayment required.
