JDRF's Central Virginia Chapter, located on Libbie Avenue in Richmond, raises more than $400,000 each year through its Walk to Cure Diabetes. The event will include food, music, games, local mascots, and family-friendly fun.
The JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes brings people together in a healthy activity for a worthy goal. The Walk is fun for families and builds camaraderie among company employees. It provides hope, empowerment and a sense of community. Your participation shows your commitment to the large scale movement to conquer type 1 diabetes one step at a time.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an auto-immune disease in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, which provides the body with the energy it needs to survive. Approximately 3 million Americans are living with T1D, and half of those individuals are children who then face a lifetime of fingerpricks and injections multiple times each day. Severe and fatal complications can include blindness, heart attack and stroke. T1D is not brought on by diet or lifestyle choices, and there is nothing the individual can do to prevent it. There is currently no available cure, but your support of JDRF can help change that. JDRF is the leading international organization funding research in search of a permanent cure for T1D.
