Seaside Safari

Want an eco-adventure that’s a little different? Spend a night in a historic oyster watch house in the marshland off of Smith Island, one of Virginia’s barrier islands. These one-room shacks were commonly used by watermen in the 19th century to protect their harvests from poachers. Now, one serves as an austere base camp for Eastern Shore excursions.
