What better season than spring for showcasing artisan jewelry—and, of course, flowers?
From one-of-a-kind dragonflies crafted by a native Turk who works in Williamsburg to preserved orchids from an Eastern Shore dealer, we searched for pieces that catch the eye. We even found a Virginia expat in NYC who recently sold a piece to actress Keira Knightley.
We shot all the jewelry with outrageous floral headdresses inspired by photographer Bert Stern’s iconic Harper’s BAZAAR magazine covers in the 1960s. As poet Karla Kuskin wrote of the season, “I’m a bud/I’m a bloom/I’m a dove on the wing/I’m running on rooftops and welcoming spring.”
