For the first time this year, the National Volleyball League tour is making a stop at the ECSC to bump, set and spike on the sands of Virginia Beach. The NVL was founded in late 2010 to fill the void left when the Association of Volleyball Professionals domestic beach volleyball tour disbanded earlier that year, and features some of America’s best beach athletes who are vying for those coveted Team USA spots for next summer’s Olympic Games. And there is no shortage of high-caliber surfers either; the ESCS’s professional division is designated as an Association of Surfing Professionals 4-Star event.
For the music lovers, bands play on the main stage from Friday to Sunday while attendees can enjoy watching surfers of all ages ride the waves. And for those who want to participate in the fun, an 8K run, wiffle ball tournaments, cornhole tournaments, volleyball games, skimboarding contests and the always crowd-pleasing swimsuit pageant will all take place throughout the week.
You won’t go hungry or thirsty either, with a vendor food court and beverage tent open throughout the week. First time going and not sure what to wear? T-shirt sales tents will be open all week to deck you out in the latest ECSC gear. That way you’ll fit in with the rest of the 200,000+ attendees while enjoying some of the best displays of sand and surf sports or dipping into the ocean to avoid that summertime heat.
