The VCU Rams are not the only ones who shine at Siegel Center. Once a year, the School of the Arts' Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising uses the university's sports facility for a spectacle that involves no hoops or baskets.

The event is STRUT, the self-proclaimed "largest and most eclectic fashion show in Richmond." This year it took place April 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., having been pushed back from its original April 2 date when the VCU Rams made it to the Final Four basketball championship.

Overall, the show's design, styling, and modeling enthralled and entertained, despite a few technical stumbles. VCU Fashion students bravely experimented with everything from forest green velvet to rice paddy hats and crimped hair to sleek buns. Click through the slideshow to see a few of the looks:
