Do you like this?

Offer to host the neighborhood Memorial Day party. Go beyond burgers and hot dogs, and plan a little more adventure in this year’s menu. This grilled fig toasts with prosciutto and green beans recipe is an unusual offering from Tyler Florence, one of my favorite chefs; grilled pork pizza recipe will keep the neighbors guessing about your next offering; and finish strong with grilled fruit kebabs for  dessert.

Save the red, white and blue décor for the Fourth of July. Kick off the season with a strong statement of color. I am loving orange and hot pink right now. Whatever you choose have fun with the décor, find a fun glass and use it to serve Cava Sangria, a  very seasonal beverage.

I usually find great party items in the Target seasonal section and Home Goods is always worth the trip. For those readers in the Richmond area a new Home Goods is opening in the Chesterfield Town Center area. Might be worth the trip.

Please take a moment during this holiday weekend and remember the reason for the holiday. Do something to remember a fallen soldier or comfort a wounded veteran. Sometimes the smallest act of kindness has a tremendous ripple effect. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend.
