the beat

Want to be eco-friendly?Just re-use, repaint, refinish something from another era. And there are lots of excellent architectural salvage and house-part websites to help.

Thanks so much for the discussion of and link for Architectural Old House Parts in Front Royal. Will have to check it out!

  • Inspiration!

This was just what I needed to cure my winter blahs!
Thanks so much for re-igniting my small spark for reinventing, into a full fledged fire! I am now looking around my house & garage for all kinds of possibilities from stuff that has been squirreled away for years. I am a fan of Black Dog Salvage (I live in Pulaski), but am now inspired to branch out to Front Royal! Again, kudos to you!

  • good idea!

Another great post Joanie! I especially like the idea of adding the glass table top as a lot of the really cool funky pieces have rough surfaces for writing on so the glass solves that problem nicely.

  • Great Table

Love the table! The idea to re-purpose lovely old items is very inspiring. I think I'm going into my basement right now to see what I can make from parts of things stored there.
Can't wait for your next posting.

  • Very topical topic

Keep these kind of posts coming. There are a lot of us out there re-finishing, re-purposing, re-painting, etc. old, tired, dated pieces to make them fresh and new, so reading about others doing the same and finding new resources is always very welcome. Thanks for another great post. Can't wait to see what you write about next.
