Last weekend, I went to the farmers' market. Some of the cooler-weather vegetables we saw in spring are beginning to reappear—I saw a few turnips, some greens—but it's inversely proportional to the disappearance of the fiery reds.
So I did what Tracey said.
When I pulled the tomatoes out of the freezer to move them from cookie sheet to freezer bag, I wanted to play with them: They were like bright, cold marbles. So beautiful. I wonder what form they'll take when they reappear on my table some cold, dark winter day.
