Do you like this?

Spring has sprung and so has party season: The Heart Ball was April 9th, Art for Autism was April 15th, Easter on Parade is April 24th, Greater Richmond SCAN’s Progressive Dinner is April 30th, The Junior League of Richmond’s Book and Author is May 3rd and the Richmond Ballet’s Kentucky Derby Day Party is May 7th.

That is six parties in less than a month. Have you ever stopped and wondered how those parties happen? Who makes them happen? Well, my name is Jill F. Reynolds and I'm the owner of Boutique Affair, an event company. I have been helping non-profits, corporations and individuals plan all types of events for longer than I can remember.

I've signed on to blog about events in Virginia and help VirginiaLiving.com readers learn how to plan their own events. So let’s get started.

I try to remember four basic “rules”:

1) Do not run out of food or drink.

2) The devil is in the details, plan for the worst and hope for the best.

3) Never let them see you sweat; your guests do not know the plan so just roll with what is happening. And last but not lest...

4) Smile. It is, after all, a party.

I would love this adventure to be interactive so please post your questions or topic request to this blog or to me personally at jill@boutiqueaffair.com
