Clotheshorses, chronic shoppers, designers, artists, photographers, and simple lovers of beautiful people alike can all hold hands and sing “Kum Ba Yah” together—or not. God forbid you smudge anyone's ring or wrinkle their gloves. So let's all settle for collective smiles and sweet sighs of glee because Richmond Fashion Week is busting out for its third year.
Kick off April with any of RVA Fashion Week's seven events:
On April 2nd, show your support for STRUT, VCU's annual fashion show put on by the School of the Arts. See what tomorrow's designers have to bring to Virginia.
April 3rd promises to be a spectacle to benefit the Richmond Animal League. Help homeless pets and admire the talents of Steven Ramirez, Britt Sebastian, Melodie Fais, Corey Nero, Chance Llanes, and Krystal Vaquerano.
Check out a showcase of jewelry by Kelly Farlow, Chelsea Nicolas, and more at The Wine Loft on April 5th.
Meanwhile, April 6th might just get a little catty on the catwalk: there's a model competition at CenterStage.
April 8th returns to the charitable with a fashion show and luncheon to benefit the Children's Hospital of Richmond. The evening gets cinematic with screenings of the top ten video finalists in the local “What is Fashion?” contest. Attendees will vote on the winner at the historic Byrd Theatre.
Then, of course, there's the Grand Finale on April 9th. Expect a fashion show with trends from Wardrobe, The Phoenix, MiLa's Bridal, Lex's of Carytown, and NYFO, as well as dance performances and a presentation of the winners of the Designer and Model Competition.
“Richmonders should come out and support RVA Fashion Week all the way, whether they are into fashion or not," says D.J. Granger, RVA Fashion Week's film coordinator. "It's an explosion of creativity in the city, and a wonderful example of what can be done when people get together and collaborate in harmony on a large scale. Not to mention, it's a huge boon for the economy of Richmond, Virginia as well.”
May that be an invitation to join in on the 'fabulousity.'
